Don and I enjoy taking our camp chairs out into the corral or pasture as often as we can to sit and be with the boys. When I did just that yesterday afternoon, Bernard decided to lay down for a nap next to me.
I decided to join him.

Oh my gosh, those pictures are absolutely precious!
May 4, 2010 at 5:00 am
I’m getting sleepy just looking at him! And what did you leave in your camp chair? It may be gone.
May 4, 2010 at 6:43 am
Liz,
I left the phone in the camp chair. I’m not sure who Ellsworth called.
May 4, 2010 at 5:08 am
Oh, that is WAY too cute! (I can see why he’s on your favorites list…)
May 4, 2010 at 5:09 am
Oh – he is so sweet taking a nap/rest next to you – I just want to kiss his soft, velvety nose
May 4, 2010 at 5:48 am
I can just imagine the neighbors walking by … “Are they dead?” “Are they napping?” “Oh…she’s got a camera. Probably just blogging.”
May 4, 2010 at 6:44 am
Carson,
I think I may be getting a reputation for being the crazy neighbor lady who is always laying down in the pasture with her donkeys. Oh well, there are much worse reputations to have!
May 4, 2010 at 5:51 am
That is just the sweetest thing.
May 4, 2010 at 6:36 am
Bernard, standing = very very cute
Bernard, napping, with his head tucked = unbearably cute
I think his pics could be used as secret weapons for Good. Who could do something mean or nasty after just looking at Bernard, napping?
May 4, 2010 at 7:19 am
One day I’m gonna have burro’s….I’m gonna lay down in the field w/my buds….I’m gonna caress those velvety muzzles…I’m gonna hear a Morning bray…
May 4, 2010 at 8:26 am
So adorable and lovable! Now I wanna sit next to them…Burros are really something, aren’t they?
May 4, 2010 at 8:41 am
Oh, that nose. I now have a smudge on my monitor from stroking the nose.
Somehow, I think the real thing feels better.
Thank you for the peaceful interlude.
(Oh, and I, too, am wondering who Ellsworth called. Dominos is probably going to show up with a no cheese, extra carrots whole wheat crust pizza.)
May 4, 2010 at 6:41 pm
Cathy,
Your comment struck me sooooooooooo funny today. I laughed over and over again each time I thought about it. I just kept imagining the Domino’s pizza guy delivering a pizza and asking for Ellsworth.

He’s so adorable. There’s something so instantly calming about watching an animal companion all snoozy and relaxed.
May 4, 2010 at 1:23 pm
Precious! Now *that* is relaxation! I would love to catch my girls napping. It almost seems like they never do?
May 4, 2010 at 1:42 pm
Bernard just broke the cuteness scale!
May 4, 2010 at 2:55 pm
I am sssooooo close to getting a mini donk or two and boarding them close by. My hubby can just go suck lemons. The fifth picture just melts my heart. ((sigh))
May 4, 2010 at 6:40 pm
CeeCee,
I’m laughing out loud. I hope you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 4, 2010 at 6:12 pm
Now I KNOW I can’t ever get burros.
I’ve have my bed set up in the pasture/corral with them so I could cuddle with ‘em.
He looks like a great big fuzzy cuddle toy!
May 4, 2010 at 6:39 pm
June,
Don and I have a running joke where just about every day, I ask him if Bernard can sleep in the house with us that night. I’m sad to say that the answer is always no.
May 4, 2010 at 6:12 pm
Correction:
“I’d have my bed set up in the pasture/corral with them so I could cuddle with ‘em.”
May 4, 2010 at 6:58 pm
They’re just the sweetest boys! I too wondered what he was checking for in your chair…

That is one happy, sleepy boy!
May 4, 2010 at 7:41 pm
awwwwwwww……I am so incredibly jealous….in a nice kind of way. I can almost feel the fur and smell that wonderful hay breath and hear the sweet little breathing…..I can’t imagine anything else that would give a crappy time of life a little bit of sunshine. Since I can’t do the same, thanks for sharing the pics and letting me have some sunshine vicariously!
May 4, 2010 at 7:44 pm
Jane,
You’re so welcome. xxoo
May 4, 2010 at 9:43 pm
And I’m the crazy lady in the neighborhood who walks her goats a mile to the mailboxes and back. We’d make a good team
Ohhhhh…and Bernard sleeps like a little baby! Those pictures almost break my heart – what a love!!
May 4, 2010 at 10:23 pm
