Do you recognize this beautiful donkey boy?
Can you believe it’s Patrick Patty Pat Pat?
If you remember him like this…
… it’s hard to believe this is him now, isn’t it?
We love him to pieces. Oh my, how we love him so.
He’s such a sweet, sweet boy and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body.
Patrick Patty Pat Pat has undergone an incredible transformation this summer.
Here he is the night in March he came to Morning Bray Farm.
We loved him right from the start, even if he did look like an Ewok.
And here he is later in March, after his first comb out. He hated looking like a cotton ball.
He’s been very patient with us while we’ve spent hours brushing him this summer.
It’s amazing what five months of love can do, isn’t it?

I think he looked CUTE with all his fluff, despite the indication that nobody had been loving him. He looked like a fuzzybunny.
But now! He is one handsome boy.
Very soft, kind, deep eyes on that one.

Pat looks so much happier now
When they stand nose to nose like that I like to think that they are really talking to each other with more then just body language!
August 24, 2011 at 5:47 am
You can just SEE how sweet he is in those photos. He’s a love!
And he says he loves his mummy and daddy the best, too!
August 24, 2011 at 5:50 am
It’s wonderful what LOVE can do :-}}
August 24, 2011 at 6:01 am
WOW. He looks totally different now, doesn’t he?
I noticed in one recent pic that he still had leggings on his back legs, but his Ewok impression has gone by the wayside.
He has such a sweet expression. When he looks at you, when he looks at his brothers….. What a good boy.

Vicki,
He’s saving the “hair extensions” on his legs for his Budweiser Clydesdale interview.

That’s a good one!
August 24, 2011 at 5:44 pm
Gotta love those Budweiser Clydesdale commercials!
That’s one of my favorites.
I’ll vote for Patrick, next time they need another Clydesdale!

I got a lump in my throat just reading this. I really love you guys for rescuing him.
August 24, 2011 at 6:15 am
Patrick is such a good looking boy
August 24, 2011 at 6:16 am
Yay for Patrick update!! How’s he blending into the herd? I noticed in one of Carson’s pictures from Gracie’s arrival that he was off to the side while the other 3 boyz were craning through the fence. Is he still Ellsworth’s special pal?
Patty-pat-pat is the way he makes your heart go, isn’t it?
August 24, 2011 at 6:35 am
Flartus,
He’s completely and totally a part of the herd now. He’s extremely playful and is loved by all, but he and Nigel are quite inseparable these days. As the herd leader, Ellsworth always keeps a watchful eye on him.
We do love Patrick so.
August 24, 2011 at 6:10 pm
Oh, how great…I was hoping Nigel would buddy up with someone. Seems like Patrick’s the perfect love bug for everyone.
August 24, 2011 at 6:20 am
I would not have recognized him without his fluff. He looks amazing and I love his ear hair! Only on a donkey though. Never on men.
August 24, 2011 at 6:21 am
Fell in love when you first brought him home & just fell in love all over again.
Thanks for posting an update on Mr. Patrick.
Hugs all around!!!
August 24, 2011 at 6:45 am
Thank you for the update on Patrick. With the news on Gracie, I was thinking to myself ‘wonder how Patrick is doing’. Love those lovng eyes. I liked his Ewok look.
August 24, 2011 at 6:58 am
I LOVED his big hair – that’s ‘cuz I’m a big haired lady at heart! The picture of him lying there just breaks my heart any time I see it…I’m so glad there are people like you & Don that just would not let that type of treatment continue. Thanks!

Love is a remarkable thing! What a sweetie!
August 24, 2011 at 7:04 am
Those eyes say it all. He looks like he has life inside now compared to when you first brought him home. Thanks for the update and the pictures.
August 24, 2011 at 7:09 am
Oh my, happy tears are flowing into my coffee cup again! I just want to kiss his whole face! He is so damn cute.
August 24, 2011 at 7:12 am
He is just a sweet and very handsome boy. It’s nice to hear happiness in your “voice” again.
August 24, 2011 at 7:23 am
I feel similarly about Patrick and Brad Pitt, I love them when they are scruffy and when they are clean-cut. But, my goodness, he has become a handsome donkey, hasn’t he?
August 24, 2011 at 7:46 am
now this is a before and after shot that I love to see!!
August 24, 2011 at 7:50 am
I never would have recognized him. What a lovely face. I just wish I was there to hug him uncontrollably.
I love the rakish tilt to his mane…
August 24, 2011 at 8:19 am
Awwwww! It looks like Patrick is a lover, but Ellesworth and Bernard are not quite so willing to receive his snuggles. Too cute!
August 24, 2011 at 8:20 am
And oh- are you going to use one of these on your header?
August 24, 2011 at 6:33 pm
Shirley,
I think you’re absolutely right… Patrick deserves a much more flattering photo up on the header.
I’ll work on getting one that includes his ears in their entirety.
August 24, 2011 at 9:08 am
Seeing that photo of him before he came to MBF just breaks my heart. It is amazing what time and love can do for a donkey. Patrick looks so handsome…and HAPPY!
August 24, 2011 at 9:11 am
What an adorable boy he is! That picture of him at his old “home” just breaks my heart every time I see it.
August 24, 2011 at 1:54 pm
What an EXTREME MAKEOVER he has become and such a handsome donkey!!! Was hoping to put my fingers through his fluffy thick hair before his hair shedded! .*-)
August 24, 2011 at 4:27 pm
That gorgeous boy actually is standing taller since he found the real Patrick under all the hair and old life. He’s a sweetie.
August 24, 2011 at 6:06 pm
This is definitely a rags to riches story. He hit the jackpot when you guys came along. And I guess that goes for you too. Thanks for rescuing this sweet guy.
August 24, 2011 at 7:11 pm
Whenever I am feeling down, I visit your website to remember there are folks like you and your husband in this world. Thank you–love does make the difference, even if you start off as a cottonball!
August 24, 2011 at 8:09 pm
Gosh, it’s like looking at my little girl’s 1st grade picture and then this year. Gone is the roundness of her face and hair.
Just like Patrick. So glad he’s in a wonderful herd. Special scritch from Tia Winter….
August 24, 2011 at 9:49 pm
I spit on my computer when I read “an Ewok”. How funny. I love him too and if I owned a farm, I would run and get two or three of these myself. I love following them…
August 25, 2011 at 5:00 am
I liked him as an Ewok!!!! But he does look flourishing. I always love to hear about Patrick. And Banyard. And Ellsworth. And… oh you get my point…
August 25, 2011 at 5:19 am
Patrick did a marvelous metamarphosis. So the Thank-You-Oscar for donkey welfare goes to Morning Bray farm!
August 25, 2011 at 7:55 am
Patrick looks beautiful! I agree with you, love him as an Ewok too.
August 25, 2011 at 7:41 pm
He IS beautiful, and I believe his ears have grown!! I know he’s wonderfully happy in his new home and, although I’m sure he knows the difference, I do hope he will never ever remember the sad state he was in before Morning Bray.
August 26, 2011 at 3:59 am
What a good looking boy!
