After recently seeing a video that showed the reaction of donkeys watching a donkey bray on YouTube, we had to try it here at Morning Bray Farm.
We give you Donkeys Watching Donkeys Watching YouTube:
My observations:
- Gracie (herd matriarch) was the first to react. Buck immediately went to comfort her, and even gave her a hug.
- Nigel was silently freaked out by the braying coming from the “box”.
- Ellsworth seemed distressed. This was his something’s wrong bray.
- Bernard was completely unfazed. I wonder why he was the only one.
- Donkey behavior is fascinating.

I guess I have to answer by saying “cat upset by donkeys reacting to donkeys watching donkeys”. But the rest of my household pets…..like Bernard, not so much.
Interesting critters the donkeys, always something to learn.

Lol My German short-haired pointer just perked up from his nap to see what on earth was going on! The schnauzer didn’t move a muscle. Interesting…
Russell doesn’t normally react when he hears our neighbor’s donkey bray. But every once in awhile he answers back. I often wonder why.

I wonder if Bernard is so secure, and so trusting that everyone (Ellsworth, Gracie, you, Don….) will take care of him, that he could just take it all in and not feel a need to react….

I like the live action that allows your viewers to hear and see the actions of your herd. Very enjoyable.

My doggies thought there was something strange going on in my office. These donkeys are so cool. Thanks for sharing this video.

It is odd that Bernard has no reaction whatsoever. And he didn’t see the others upset did he? I mean he has his head down in the dirt. I’m wondering if his hearing is ok?

Makes you wonder what the donkey on the video was saying…..

I tried this last weekend too:). I finally got blogger to post it today. It is very interesting, I keep wondering if they would react differently to another type of bray. A “come here” bray vs. an alarm bray for example. I don’t think I will try it again though, it’s too disruptive and I feel like I am being dishonest. I don’t want Emma and Ramsey to start worrying when I show up.
