We had our first measurable snowfall here on Tuesday.
The Boyz, Gracie and Harriet seemed to take it all in stride. For anyone who remembers that Ellsworth was getting chunky, doesn’t he look good now?
The herd did a good job of keeping themselves warm and safe and dry.
Originally from Death Valley, California, Nigel despises getting wet. That aside, isn’t he incredibly handsome? He still takes my breath away.
I wonder why everyone else wanted to pack themselves into the other stall. Maybe it’s warmer that way?

Looks like they are all adjusting to their new home and climate just fine! Bet the winter wolly coats will really pop out for next year. 🙂
Thanks for the update, been wondering how it’s going for everyone. (And welcome to real winter…)

They are looking very happy. I like the run in shelter under the barn. It always feels better in one with a herd of donkeys, though…
How does The Moo like the snow? Does she have enough coat to keep herself warm?

Farmer Barb,
The Moo doesn’t seem to be particularly fond of snow, but she does have enough coat to keep her warm (and a heat lamp for very cold nights).

I love Nigel’s curly, sunbleached “bangs”. 🙂
Did you and Don line everything with chickenwire or did the owners? Cheap way to keep donkeys from nibbling all the wood.

CeeCee,
We put the chicken wire up as soon as we got here. We definitely don’t want the herd eating the barn here like they did the one in ABQ. 🙂
I love Nigel’s bangs too.

Nigel just didn’t want to walk into the snow to get into the stall with his buddies! The herd all look good, but you know Nigel is my favourite too.

The Virginia light is beautiful, and look at all that chicken wire. I can hear Don grumbling from here.

Thanks! Nigel’s doing okay. We actually had a break in the weather yesterday… it got up into the 40’s for a while. 🙂
