The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.
~Aristotle
As you know, it’s been cold here these last few weeks. The Boyz have all been fine, but to help keep weight on Gracie and Harriet, we’ve supplemented their hay with equine senior mash a couple of times a day.
Gracie gets two cups and Harriet gets three. It’s easy enough to tell whose bowl is whose by how much is in it, but Don decided to get artsy for the girls.
Pretty bowls for pretty girls. Sunflowers for Grace (Don prefers calling her by her original name) and hearts for Harriet.
Don also thought he’d try his hand at ice sculpting:
We’re ready for spring.

I didn’t know Don was an artist? I think his ice sculptures are wonderful and vote “bunny” on the first one.
Hope the girls continue to improve on their weight.

It’s a Bunny for me, too. (I feel like a judge on America’s Got Talent!)
Ah, the joys of living in Winter. Welcome to my world.

Me too!!! We get a warm day here or there and it makes me realize how sick I am of this cold. Love the bright colors and designs on the feed pans – better than my version…Duct tape!

Good to know that all is well down there in spite of cold weather. Glad that Gracie and Harriet are doing as well as possible. Y’all keep warm as it’s truly cold out today, I think, coldest by far!

Love it! I’ll bet the girls are delighted to have extra treats, although I wouldn’t want to be the one having to explain it to Bernard. I love the ice sculptures, too. They look very Inuit and therefore, fitting for your current climate.

Carolynn,
Haha! You are absolutely right about Bernard. He is having a hard time understanding why young, strong donkey boys don’t need yummy mash. 🙂

Awww. Daddy loves his girls. 🙂
I can see how it would take a while to get used to winter, again, after living in the warm southwest!

Vicki,
Everyone keeps telling us this is an unusually cold and wet winter for this part of Virginia, so at least we have that! It’s so good to hear from you. 🙂 xx

Don…seeing his artwork on Gracie and Harriet’s dishes just warmed my heart! And ice sculpture, too?
It looks like everyone is happy and settled in, if a bit chilly…sending you all warm thoughts, hugs, and immediately warmer temperatures!

Danni,
Don did good, didn’t he? 🙂 It looks like if we can get through the rest of this week (we will), temperatures should be getting back to normal, which means warmer weather. Sending you all warm thoughts and hugs too.

I vote bunny for the first ice sculpture. And I love the artsy feed bowls.

Love the ice sculptures!
There’s nothing wrong with girlie bowls for girls! My little girl kitty eats from a antique flowered girly bowl, easy to tell from the big fella’s. Suit’s her to a T!
Nice job, Don!
