Baby Kassie is the primary reason we don’t have cats here at Morning Bray Farm. Unfortunately, we do get the occasional skunk. And, when we do, it’s inevitable that Kassie manages to meet with said skunk(s). Four times last year in fact.
To honor the beginning of the 2010 skunk mating season, Mom is sharing her recipe for skunk treatment. It works like a charm.
Combine one quart peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and one tablespoon dish liquid. Wash dog with solution, let sit for a few minutes, then rinse.

Kassie is a cutie, and I can attest to your recipe being a good one. Yes, I’ve had to use it several times!

When my neighbor’s Jack Russell was able to get to our property, she was relentless on her hunt for our cat. I’d hear her barking that high pitched bark in my garage. She’d ‘tree’d’ our cat on top of our car.
Our cat was very grateful when the owner put up a fence that the Jack couldn’t get through.

Such an instigator under that precious face. And I had no idea you could buy peroxide by the quart. The guy at the Walgreens is probably thinking you’re cooking meth or something with it for as much as you’ve been buying.

Sweet little face that loves herself some SKUNK! Eeeeek. I’ve got this recipe on hand for when and if this occurrence happens here. Last season we woke to our pup lunging at our deck door – normally, we’d open it to let her go see, but (fortunately) we used our flashlights to check things out first. It was the BIGGEST skunk I have ever seen, waddling the length of our deck..when the skunk heard all the commotion, he/she shoved himself through the bars of the railing and disappeared. Phew!

Ewwww! I don’t miss those days at all! That’s the good thing about having a dog that’s a little….shall we say….slow? No skunk spray!

I’ve used vinegar, baking soda and douche (it’s mild for around their face) and it works great! Hope I don’t ever have to use it again.
