Mom loves cooking with crushed red pepper these days. The more the better. Since she’s been going through those dinky McCormick jars like nobody’s business, Dad brought her a surprise.
Behold three and three-quarters pounds of red pepper. Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?

WOW, that’s a lot of crushed red pepper!!! I use it some, my hubby adds extra to some dishes, but using that much … mmmm, that would take me a long, long time.

Holy smoke! I want one. I use the crushed red pepper as a deterrent to the critters that eat tulip bulbs. It works! But last fall, the word was out and for a short period of time I was unable to get them. I scoured every store in town and finally got enough. However…….you two birds are eating this much? Yikes. Husband’s….ya gotta love em. Who else would bring this home? LOL

I think you should post some recipes! I love peppers but I generally don’t put them in too many recipes because hubby and kids don’t appreciate them the same way. But if it was an unexpected surprise – then what a treat! It just shows he was thinkin’ abt ‘cha!

In the Mexican section of the supermarket I frequent (Winco) they have little bags of spices—-cheap. I get my cayenne and red pepper flakes there—-along with some other stuff that is much lower in price than in the spice section of the market

Liz and CeeCee,
Try Sam’s Club or Costco? That’s where hubby got the red pepper.
