Our sentinel
In addition to being the gentle soul that he is, Ellsworth has established himself as the sentinel here at Morning Bray.
He’s always the first to spot everything…
…and anything.
He’s steadfast and refuses to be distracted from his job.
So many words are appropriate to describe Ellsworth. To name just a few: loyal, constant, faithful. What an amazing boy. We absolutely love him.

I’ve heard that donkeys/burros are very good watch “dogs”. It must be in Ellsworth’s genes to be so observant. (And Bernard can just be a fun loving donkey since big brother El is on the job keeping him safe!)

Ellsworth just has the prettiest, (oops I mean handsomest) ears and love the way his mane creates a bit of a tuft that stands up behind them. So sweet.

Bernard eating the twine fence had me laughing out loud. It appears since Ellsworth is on the job, Bernard has no worries and can get on with what he thinks needs to be done. Good job Ellsworth.

The vet came by yesterday and I had to show her the hens and their coop. I mentioned how much I like donkeys and would like one. She went “ooooh I would so love to have donkeys too, they have such a sweet behavior”. Judging from Ellsworth’s photos-she is right.

The cattle ranchers in Alberta keep donkeys with their herds, especially in calving time. It cuts down on the losses to coyotes. Ellesworth is doing a fine job!

Ha ha ha…Bernard trying to eat the twine fence made me totally crack up. Hmmm…nobody around here has even snuffled the one that I put up. Go figure.
Ellsworth is such a wonderful sentinel – I love how talls his ears stand when he’s observing. Such a handsome boy!

I was told that burros have good memories! Perhaps Bernard is trying to remove the wire so he could jump through over the middle rail of the fence(not over) like he had when you both were at work while I stayed at your place at that time. Did it ever happen after I left?
