How does a donkey get a grass stain on the bridge of his nose? It was the first thing Don and I both noticed when we got home yesterday.
Sometimes you just gotta wonder what happens when you’re not around. In this case with the grass stain, it’s obvious who the responsible party is. Inquiring minds want to know how.

Ok, so what’s your best guess? Did it come off of the cone, did Bernard do it, did Ellsworth go down face first?? Help me out, I’m a city girl… I think Bernard did it!

Nancy,
Don thinks Bernard did it. I think so too! It’s amazing how often Bernard is the instigator of roughhousing considering he’s that much smaller than Ellsworth!

Hmm…very peculiar. Can’t imagine Bernard gnawing on Ellsworth’s face. Maybe Ellsworth rolled too close to a particularly fresh pile of poop?

Carson,
Our first thought was it might be goose poop. The geese around here are experts at leaving presents behind. But this really did appear to be a grass stain. I didn’t mention in the post that Ellsworth did have a couple of superficial cuts above his eye as well, so we’re thinking they were playing really hard yesterday morning. Don thinks Bernard nibbled (as CeeCee put it) on Ellsworth’s face.

I guess while Mom and Dad are away, the children will play, and neither are going to tell!

Ooops … meant to mention that perhaps you need a camera in their area. Wouldn’t that be a hoot!

Pat,
I wish we had a livestream webcam here like they do at the Donkey Sanctuary! I’m sure I’d never get any work done, but I’d love it. 🙂
