Happy Easter! We’re in Phoenix this weekend visiting my dad. This is his dog Bluie. She has the most beautiful blue eyes and is such a good girl.
One of the things I enjoy when visiting my dad is the grackles. They crack me up. I’ve always called them machine gun birds because of their unique call.

We had lots of grackles in our yard in Tempe… especially this time of the year when Hubby wanted to sleep with the windows open. They woke him up early on the week-ends and it made him soooo mad. Spring… gotta love it.

That’s so interesting. I’ve heard our grackles make a thousand sounds, but never that one. Must be a regional thing??
Looks like your dad’s girl is an Aussie?

CeeCee,
I was thinking the same thing about it being a regional thing. The grackles in Albuquerque don’t make the “machine gun” call either.
Bluie is a rescue. I think you’re right about her being part Aussie.

Bluie is a lovely looking girl. Grackles our way are a small blackish bird that is quite pesty and mostly unwanted by all.
