Don and I were talking yesterday about how we’d know Bernard’s or Ellsworth’s bray anywhere, and how the donkey boys have been braying much less since Fergus and Nigel arrived two weeks ago.
So, for posterity, we present Bernard and Ellsworth braying. It was at about the time these videos were taken we decided Morning Bray would be the name of our little farm.
In case you’re wondering, not a peep from Fergus or Nigel yet.

Well, good morning to you, too! 🙂 I didn’t know what bray meant (I am from Slovenia so English is not my mother tongue) and now I know what it means and how the boys sound:)) I just love learning about the donkeys and burros. They are quite rare here nowadays; there were far more in the past, but they are becoming more and more popular. I love learning new things about the animals!

Definitely a difference in the brays, and interesting that the new boys are quiet and the original boys are braying less.

Wow, they are different!
Horses will sometimes whinny when they are lonely or feeling insecure if separated from their herd. Sounds like your group feels very safe and content with you!

We’re getting ready for your niece’s 1st birthday party and melting under a thick blanket of humidity. Aunt Di and I both miss you alot and are excited to meet Don. We still want to come visit you and were wondering if we brought Molly, our golden retriever, would it be ok and if so, would your dogs be ok with it?
Juliet is the happiest baby I’ve ever met and I’m not just saying that! She’s only cried and that was when Di dropped her on her head! 2 seconds later, she was laughing.
Love your website, your mom sent it to me this morning… must not be alot of sleeping in with all that braying going on!

We hope that Bernard and Ellsworth haven’t had the occasion to bray because they’re sad. Most often the brays heard here are brays of demand, if you will. Kind of like, “Mom and Dad, we’re hungry – feed us!” Or, “Mom and Dad, we want attention – scratch us!” 🙂

How cute they are! I must try to video the girls while braying. They don’t bray very often, but when they do I’ve learned to recognize what it means even if I can’t see them at the time (well, for the most part I ‘get it’.. lol). Love those brays! -Tammy

I love the braying and still wish the City allowed donkey ownership in town. The cat was fascinated by Ellsworth and Bernard’s vocalizations. The dogs? Nothing phases them.
