Poor Bernard. I know personally that being short sometimes has its advantages. On the other hand, sometimes it’s downright tough.
Yo, ‘Worth. Do you think you could score me some of those leaves?
You mean these leaves up here?
Yes, Ellsworth. Those leaves up there.
Dang, these are some good leaves Bernard.
I promise I’ll be your best friend forever…

Awwwwwww, love that last shot. Those leaves almost look like some sort of fruit tree?
Bernard, I understand. I’m vertically challenged too, and I can never reach things on shelves.
Take heart in the fact that tall people bump their heads a LOT more than we do.

Cathy,
It’s a birch tree. I’m with you on never being able to reach things on shelves.

I absolutely love how donkeys rest their head on another’s back. If I kneel down, Gunny will rest his head in me like that. Of course, he about knocks me over because I am not as well balanced as a donkey, but I feel the donkey love when he does that.
I’m just certain you built a little platform so Bernard can get his sweet leaves;-)

Did he get any leaves? Will they be best friends forever? How about building a small bump on the ground just under that tree?

Awwwww… poor Bernard! 🙂 My “shorty” (Gracie) actually seems more adept at grabbing leaves than her slightly taller sis. Seems to be a coordination thing.
Love your pics (and captions)!! -Tammy

Do they ever stand on their hind legs to reach something they can’t reach on all fours?

Vicki,
I haven’t seen them stand on their hind legs to browse for leaves, but am now curious to see if they ever do (like the goats). The boys do get up on their hind legs when they play though.

Clearly that donkey needs some really fat squirrels. Let me know if I can send one right over… 🙂
