Living in Albuquerque is the first time I’ve ever had roses. I always thought they were too high maintenance. I’m happy to say I’ve been proven wrong.

I guess I’ll have to move to NM to grow roses…here in Wisconsin mine just seem to grow lots of green, thorny branches and not so much in the flower department. Your’s are beautiful!

Also interesting that there are some things cameras like to do and some they don’t. My cameras often have trouble with blue-ish reds and red-ish blues. I can see on the little screen that the color on the screen is not what I’m seeing with my eye…..
And your roses are lovely, too. 🙂

Great rose photos today. When we bought our house in Tempe, AZ it had 3 rose bushes at the front of the house just underneath the living room window. They grew LIKE CRAZY and in the springtime I could always open the windows and smell their fragrance. The red ones and the yellow ones did great, but the white ones struggled just a bit. Guess you just have to buy the correct kind of roses.

I gave up on roses years ago because the deer find them especially yummy–thorns and all.
Beautiful pics. I love playing with the colors on my pictures as well.

Thank you. I didn’t realize roses aren’t deer resistant. You’ve got to wonder how they get past the thorns (like how George and Alan at 7MSN don’t think twice about eating cholla cactus). Just as well that I never tried growing them in Maryland then! 🙂

Beautiful photos. Every year I vow not to buy any roses and yet usually succumb to their beauty. Then they get plagued with aphids and fungus and its just a disheartening experience overall. I’ve resisted so far this year but was planning to go to the nursery today where I usually lose my resolve.

Thank you. Knock on wood, I haven’t seen any aphids here in Albuquerque. I do know exactly what you mean by losing your resolve at the nursery. It always seems that all of the plants and flowers are calling my name. 🙂

Absolutely beautiful!
We do have a rosebush at our new house (and many other plants we have yet to identify), but I’m afraid we hacked it down too much, although there are several new shoots popping up, so we’ll see what happens.
I’ve always been partial to the little wild rose bushes that my mom has. They totally flourish in the mid-west, and climb up arbors very nicely.

I love your rose photo. My rose bushes got terribly “hailed” last August. I’m waiting with baited breath (boy this sardine tastes terrible) to see if they will come back this year.
I’m pleased to announce that all of them have shoots, but I don’t yet know if they came up from above or below the graft. Only time will tell.
