In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

That is a beautiful tribute. My father fought in World War II. I am thankful he is still here. He was severely wounded and spent three and a half years in army hospitals recovering.
Your picture is very creative. I love it.

My dad was in WWII–it messed him up. I wish I’d known some of what he went through before he died. It would have explained so much.
Nice tribute. 🙂

Waaay back when I was a child, we had a Memorial Day ceremony in the cemetary behind our 1st/2nd grade school. A student always recited this poem. I had forgotten it. Thank you for the remembering.
