Not a one of us has had a second of regret for adopting Fergus and Nigel in April.
In fact, Don and I have had repeated conversations about how thankful we are that one became two.
And, while some things never change… like Bernard chewing or sucking on everything he can get into his mouth…
…Don couldn’t help but notice a change in Ellsworth after Fergus and Nigel’s arrival. Understandably, Ellsworth was often quite focused on his place in the hierarchy and not on us. Therefore, Don felt he had lost his buddy.
Until yesterday.
Don got his buddy back.
Hallelujah and amen.
Everything just takes a little time to work itself out.
Did I say Hallelujah? Let me say it again.

So, so lucky. I would so love to give a hug to your pets. They are so wondeful and it brightens my day to read about them. Fl. Fan

Real men wear pink hats and allow them themselves to be photographed with a donkey. Great shots.

Love this and how attached Ellsworth is to him. Animals in so many ways act like children. They don’t always like changes. Good things take time and I know you know this too.
These photos almost made me cry.

Oh that is so sweet. He just needs some quality “me” time with his Papa. Aren’t donkeys the best huggers?

Ok, you know my heart is always towards Ellsworth and it was singing by the time I got to that last shot! I’m shouting in the streets w/ya – Hallelujah, Hallelujah! (I was raised Pentecostal so I threw in a couple of Praise the Lord’s!)

What great pictures.
Ellsworth is much “redder” in the shade. Would he be considered a roan color?

That is so darn sweet! I know Mr. Fry considers Jaz to be his special bud and gets his feelings hurt if Jaz isn’t feeling sociable.

How amazing. I had no idea that he was suffering with two new siblings in the mix. I’m so glad he decided to trust y’all and give hugs again. 🙂

That last shot is so representative of what our experience with our miniature donkeys has been – they are so loving and so generous with their affection. There is nothing else quite like a donkey hug. So glad Ellsworth has gotten back to his buddy.

I’ll echo somebody else: awwwww. I’m glad Ellsworth is feeling a little more secure in his world. I have to say that must be quite an experience to have donkey all over one’s head 🙂 We certainly know the sensation of nibbling four-legged critters, because if you stand still in the barn for too long at our place, your sure to have a couple or so goats chewing on body parts or items of clothing! Many scritches to Ellsworth and the boys. Ken and Mary of Fancyfibers Farm

I seriously almost started crying for real. The tears that did come to my eyes don’t count as real crying. That is so sweet! And I’m certain that if I go back and re-read Critterfarm and then this back to back……I’ll have to grab the box of tissues. I love happy endings especially in this mixed up world!
