Just the other day, we were comparing notes with Carson about how our respective dogs react when they hear coyotes. Normally, our dogs completely ignore them.
You’ll see that was not the case with Kassie on Friday evening as the sun was setting and a pack of nearby coyotes started howling, yipping, yelping and barking.
We measure Kassie’s alert status by how close the tip of her tail is to touching her back. ♥

Pretty much the same way we measure handsome’s.

That many coyotes making that much noise would be pretty hard to ignore! At least Baby Kassie was on guard for you.

Such scary sounds! We have them here, that’s how our last cat went over Rainbow bridge.
I wonder what got them stirred up when it was still so light out?

Holy Smokes! Those coyotes were very close. I’m already worried about your chickens and you don’t even have any yet. Good thing you have all those big brave donkeys to help your dogs guard the farm.

My dog usually ignores them too. However, every so often he will stand at alert and growl when he hears them…from the safety of our house. 🙂

I expected a bit of howling but that sounded like at least 10 coyotes! No coyotes here in the city-except at the zoo two miles away.

I love the sounds of coyotes. It reminds me of the wildness all around us and how we should hold onto that wildness in ourselves.
My dogs normally ignore them, too. Easy, since there’s a coyote proof fence protecting them.

Yikes. That’s a LOT of coyotes, and she’s not a very big dog. Lucky for her you were with her!

The coyotes have been especially vocal here lately too. One night I woke up and I would have sworn one of them was fifty feet from the bedroom window. I did not get up to look, although I should have, because I would have had to do something about it.
I am glad that Angus and Max are either used to the yipping, or have become so deaf that they can’t hear it.
I think, by the way, that it doesn’t take a whole lot of coyotes to make that much noise. They have a way of doing harmony that makes them sound a lot more numerous than they are.
