I think yesterday was one of the best days of young Bernard’s life. While his brothers were contentedly eating breakfast, Bernard wanted a part of whatever was going on as soon as Don started backing up the trailer.
It was a perfect New Mexico day as we drove to The 7MSN Ranch.
As soon as we arrived, Bernard expressed his excitement by letting out a big, loud bray. George and Alan were so excited, they floated on air.
I simply loved seeing Bernard in this environment.
After a delicious lunch on the porch – while watching the burro brothers and Bernard gallop past in single file – we all took a walk in the pasture. Bernard made himself completely at home and led the way.
George, Alan, Carson and Hank were right behind us.
And when it was time to head back to the barn, Bernard led the way once again.
At the end of the afternoon, parting was such sweet sorrow. By the time we arrived home, the sun was beginning to set as we crossed the Rio Grande, and the only thing Bernard could talk about was the next time he visits The 7MSN, Ellsworth will be along for the ride. ♥

What a great day. I hope Bernard didn’t brag to his brothers about how special he was to get to go visit.
Burros have tiny little neat feet, don’t they?

Burro playdates. How cool is that?
So happy the boys did indeed get along and play well together. And that little goober acted like he really did own the place! He’s got such a cute personality.
Can’t wait for the follow up playdate with Ellsworth evening up the playing field!

George and Alan had a blast with their new buddy … and I think they might sleep the day away today. They’re already talking about their next play date with Bernard and Big Red.

Just left a comment on Carson’s page, so I had to rush right over here to tell Bernard how happy I am that he had a good time!
It’s always nice to meet new friends, isn’t it Bernard?
The best news of all? That Ellsworth gets to go next time 🙂 🙂 🙂

That Bernard is one lucky donkey boy. Did he have to swim that river to get to 7MSN?

Definitely, Bernard had his best and special day riding and enjoying his “free” walk on 7MSN Ranch along with his “hosts” with beautiful scenery. Did Bernard bray again when you three left like he did when arriving there as if he didn’t want to leave, yet?

MeeMaw,
No, no bray upon our departure from 7MSN… I think he just wanted to be sure everyone knew he had arrived when we got there. 😉

Looks like a fun time was had by all! 🙂 I’m sure Bernard is busy telling stories of his great adventure to the rest of your donkey boys. Can’t wait to see what Ellsworth thinks of all this when it’s his turn!

A playdate – how fun!
How incredible that Bernard *likes* to go on roadtrips – in my experience, it takes an awful lot of “convincing” to get donkeys to willingly climb into a trailer and then not stress out the entire ride.
What an incredibly fun day! 🙂

Too Cute ! Bernard looks like George’s little brother. Not featured exactly alike but pretty durn close. Just different enough for each to be unique … George with his leg stripes, Bernard with his more pronounced “chin strap”. Of course you two “Moms” could tell them apart, even after Bernard grows to George’s size, even if they did look exactly the same. Moms are like that. Dads too 🙂

So glad to see your pictures and that all went well yesterday! Bernard looked like he “owned the place”. George seemed fascinated with little Bernard and I’m surprised Alan didn’t get jealous!
