Don and I drove to Amarillo, Texas this past weekend to visit with and celebrate the birthday of a dear friend.
Once we arrived, we rode in a big car.
There were big horns on the hood of the big car.
The big car took us to a big place called The Big Texan Steak Ranch.
The Big Texan is the home of the World Famous, FREE 72 oz. STEAK DINNER (if eaten in 1 hour). If Don had attempted this daring feat, it would have looked something like this:
Not to worry, though, because no such nonsense was attempted. If you know us, you know we’re much too civilized for that sort of tomfoolery. ♥

Had the offer been for 72 Chesapeake Bay crabs, I know either of you could have walked away with a free meal.

72. Ounces. of Steak.
Drooollll. Of course, that would feed me for several weeks. But still… steak!
Love the turquoise covered cattle skull. Quite pretty!
Thanks for sharing your road trip!

Looks like you guys had a blast! What fun…
I could have downed that beer Don’s holding in 10 minutes – would that have counted?

I’d think one would need to be large enough to need that big chair, in order to even imagine eating so much! Oy.
I’ve only been to Texas once, but I liked it……

I bet he couldnt finish the steak and bribed Justina to halt the documentation of the attempt. That is CLEARLY the case, as Don is happily posing in the other pictures. Where’s the customary scowl? It’s suspicious. Just sayin’.

Goodness, the stereotypes that place puts to good use. 🙂
I’m glad you had a wonderful trip and took some great pictures. Don is way cuter than Edith Ann ever was. Justina, where are the pictures of you!!??

Wow, do they really play live music for you as you chew on your 4 1/2 lb steak? lol at Don in the Big Chair. He looks pretty happy; might have something to do with that big beer in his hand!

That place is a hoot and a half. Don looks so cute on “the big chair”. Thanks for the info on the parade. We’re putting it on our calendar. The Olde Bagg

What? You were in the neighborhood and didn’t drop by?
Okay, so Amarillo isn’t exactly in the neighborhood of Austin, but still. 🙂
Glad you had a good trip. I may be back your way over the holidays – will let you know!
