Softly the evening came. The sun from the western horizon
Like a magician extended his golden want o’er the landscape;
Trinkling vapors arose; and sky and water and forest
Seemed all on fire at the touch, and melted and mingled together.
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Just gorgeous.
p.s. The window in your vehicle must very clean.
p.p.s. I hope Don was driving.

Carson,
Thank you.
p.s. I was also wondering about how all of the bugs on my windshield didn’t show up in the picture.
p.p.s. He wasn’t. I took the picture on my way home last night… it was sooooo beautiful!

Lovely poem, and you live is such a beautiful part of the country. We visited there about a year ago now. Would love to come back again sometime.

Okay, hands down your skies (blue, stormy or sunset-y) beat ours in WI. Now that we are officially in winter, it seems our skies are just mostly gray. Blech.
Send some sunshine our way when you’ve had your fill, okay?

C,
We’ll be happy to share. I remember the winter gray skies in Maryland… I feel for you.

CeeCee,
You’re absolutely right… I just couldn’t possibly help it. And I promise I was very careful. 😀

WOW.
🙂
ps — if your camera focuses on something very far away (like the sky), close things(like dead bugs on the windshield) may disappear in the unfocused (insignificant for this pic) foreground.

Wow. Now THAT’S a sunset. And, I love the poem, as well.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts & feelings over at my place. For the record, visiting my favourite blogs, like yours, helps to keep my spirits from sinking dangerously low, too.

Pia,
I don’t know about brave… I think crazy is probably a better word. 😀 I just had to take a picture… it was too beautiful not to.
