Two weeks ago, we were wondering what was going on with Fergus’s tail.
This week, we’re calling Fergus a badass. Figuratively, though, because of his hip new haircut.
Literally, definitely not. In reality, Fergus is quickly establishing himself as the sweetheart of the herd. ♥ ♥ ♥

Quite a nice little bob there, Fergus.
Good thing it’s a while until fly season (if you get that there); that doesn’t look as if it would be real effective at making flies fly.
Did you leave the cutting where the birdies can use them for nestmaking?

June,
That was exactly my worry… making sure he has a tail again by the time the flies arrive. (Yes, we get that here.)
I kept the cutting (it’s here in a baggie). Not sure what I want to do with it, but it is Fergus’s first haircut. 🙂

Were you thinking of making a little pigtail to pin into your own hair?
Y’know….it’s a thought….

Now all the burro boys will want to copy him! He may have started a new fashion trend for tails! 🙂

You could call him “Bob.”
Naaah. Fergus is so much more distinguished.
Maybe you could put hot sauce on his tail to stop the nibbler?

Awww…he looks adorable! I wonder if their tails take as much time to grow as horse tails. Russell has had his mane chewed off but it grew back pretty quickly.

Awww. He *looks* sweet………… Very soft expression……
And — I think that if he’s going to be a badass, he needs some piercings, and maybe to dye his topknot fuchsia, or something….. 🙂
Maybe he and Wilbur could start a band…..

So my question is: Did you ever find out who was chewing his tail?
He does look smart in his new haircut. Have the other boys asked for the same thing?

Seriously, they do make tail extensions that you can braid in if he needs a longer swatter come summer.

My neighbor makes the extension out of baling twine and vet wrap. Very stylish and extremely inexpensive.

Awww, what a fun photo. He sort of looks like one of those little kids that gets his bangs cut really short just before school starts. 🙂

Fergus is stylin’ & profilin’ – lol And Carson says he can get a weave when the flies come – best of both worlds!
