All for one and one for all
My brother and my friend
What fun we have
The time we share
Brothers ’til the end.

Ellsworth was not feeling well on Monday. (Don’t worry, he’s fine now.) When I came home for lunch, he refused his mid-day apple slice and any other feed.
I could see in his eyes that he didn’t feel well. I called the vet right away, then Don, who headed straight home, and then Carson.
While Don and I waited for the vet, the other boys stood just outside the barn stall door to keep Ellsworth company.
Patrick included. See how handsome he is? The wind was blowing the hair out of his face.
Fergus and Nigel too.
Bernard was extremely upset to be separated from Ellsworth.
He even insisted on giving Ellsworth a kiss.
Thankfully, in the end, Ellsworth was feeling better yesterday. Dr. D thinks that Ellsworth most likely picked up a short-lived bug either from Patrick or our adventure on Saturday.
I’m learning as we go along when I should panic and when I shouldn’t, but I learned a big lesson on Monday. The boys will always be there for their brothers when it matters most. All for one and one for all. ♥

So . . . the boys’ concern is an additional clue when somebody isn’t feeling good. …in case you miss it.
SO glad Ellsworth’s feeling back up to snuff.

Glad the Worth is ok! It’s really nice to see how much they care for each other. Especially nice to see that Patrick is already one of the gang. He has such a sweet face!

Good boys!
I can feel the panic too, Justina! An animal who refuses his favourite treats means always alarm bell…

I love this…not the Ellsworth being sick part…but the brotherly love part. So sweet!
Glad to hear Ellsworth is feeling better. Guess than can get 24-hour bugs just like humans do. You and Don are such good parents.

Sweet photos of Bernard checking on his brudder. When I brought Harry and Gunny home, their other mama said, “If a donkey isn’t eating, that’s when it’s time to call the vet.” So glad Ellsworth is feeling better. Musta been those kisses:-)

So glad the ‘worth is feeling better! So scary when they are “off”…….
How sweet — Bernard giving a kiss……………………
My morning’s excitement was Wilbur eating my carelessly-dropped 1000 unit vitamin D this morning. I called the vet, and got sent to poison control, and no one was sure what was a dangerous dose for a 30-pound dog. I was to make him throw up, just in case……. Of course our hydrogen peroxide was old enough that it didn’t fizz at all………. So I hopped in the shower in preparation for taking him in so the pros could make him throw up.
Luckily, when I was in the shower, our vet practice called back. A more experienced doc had chimed in to say that amount would not hurt him; don’t worry.
He’s pretty good at respecting “LEAVE IT!” but he was RIGHT under my chair and may even have caught it out of the air……
Whew.
They do keep us on our toes, don’t they!
Sending a hug to Ellsworth, and to you!
Whew.
(and — note to self — get a new hydrogen peroxide every fall when I replace the smoke-alarm batteries. Just In Case….)

Ellsworth looks so sad 😦 Poor baby. I am so relieved he is doing well. You really captured the concern all the brothers had for him – so incredibly sweet. Give the Worth an extra hug from me.

Um..can you teach me when to panic? I’m kind of on “auto panic”
Glad he is feeling better. As Manny the mammoth said on Ice Age, “that’s what you do in a herd. You look out for each other.”

It’s amazing how animals can sense when something is wrong…..Loved Bernard’s kiss and Patrick fitting in nicely. His face/nose seems shorter than the others and so cute.

It’s so hard to know what is wrong with our animals when they cannot tell us other than by their behavior. Glad you are so sharp-eyed and have multiple safety nets in place, including a good vet (and Don and Carson)!
