Don and I flew to Virginia last weekend to visit my dad.
I was in heaven. We visited the Appalachian Trail.
It was green and there were flowers everywhere.
And waterfalls.
And woods.
Did I mention flowers?
We visited the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum.
And walked in more woods. (Heaven.)
We drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway. (Beautiful.)
We visited Natural Chimneys Regional Park. Though Maryland was the first state to choose jousting as its official state sport in 1962, Natural Chimneys has been home to the oldest jousting tournament in North America since 1821.
I fell in love with old barns.
And old houses.
I love peonies.
Love. Love. Love. ♥

Oh my, those woods look like botanical gardens! Such beauty! I absolutely love the picture of you and your hubby :))
I love the old barn picture and that one of the old house – is that a typical look for that area?

Some of the pictures were taken at the Edith J Carrier Botanical Gardens at James Madison University. 🙂
There are many old barns and old houses in that area… in fact, many of them date to before the Civil War.

Thanks for the mini vacation to Virginia! I always notice and love the flowers whenever we travel. I’m drawn to places with warmer weather and long growing seasons. Happy Spring!

Oh my. Old barns…my favorite thing. Seeing this makes me a little homesick. I absolutely LOVE phlox and peonies! I also miss the forsythia bushes and walking in the woods. So glad you got to enjoy your visit! Thanks for sharing these photos!

Love the waterfall photo! That’s gorgeous and that looks like a wolf at your feet – like all the woodland creatures are coming out to greet you. *smile* They know good people, woodland creatures. *grin*
If you like woods & forest & flowers, you MUST come and visit here. That’s what we do best here. Well, that and copious amounts of rain, but then, that’s why we have the woods & flowers.

The wonderful lush green and all the flowers is such a contrast to here. Our green is certainly not the green of Virginia. Looks like you had a great time.

Do you know what an EXCELLENT photographer you are ? It takes more than nice scenery and pretty flowers to make a good picture. You have such a sense of composition that everything is shown to its greatest advantage. Very impressive … and yes, Virginia is beautiful.
