The Boyz reminded me yesterday that they haven’t been featured on the blog in a while.
I’m sorry, Boyz.
You’ve missed the new game that Bernard likes to play. He comes up behind me and gently puts his head between my legs so that I’ll put one of my legs over his back.
I think know he just likes being hugged.
Patrick continues to come out of his shell more and more with each passing day. He’s a remarkable donkey boy.
So does Nigel, by the way. We’re now touching Nigel’s face, so it’s a matter of time before we get a halter on him. He’s a remarkable burro boy. (Many thanks to Mel in NY for your advice with Nigel.)
You’ve also missed how happy everyone is when Don daddy gets home.
Daddy pushes down tree branches so the Boyz can eat leaves. The Boyz love leaves. Good golly… just look at Ellsworth’s face.
I kind of think the Boyz look like giraffes when they’re eating leaves from the trees.
Yes, Patrick… that’s a good thing. ♥

In pictures 3, 4, and 5 . . . please tell me you’re sitting down…? Or are you a former Rockette?
So good to see everybody having a good time. Love Patrick tasting your shoe, love seeing them reaching for leaves (I thought “giraffe” too), love their funny, fuzzy, sweet faces…

June,
A very important thing to remember… Bernard is a small standard donkey. He’s quite short. 🙂

It’s funny how the boys look greenish in the pictures under the tree. BTW, did you trim Patrick’s hair on his face as I noted a straight line where you may have trimmed?

MeeMaw,
No, we didn’t trim the hair on Patrick’s face. I noticed that too… I think that’s still a result of him wearing a halter non-stop for more than two years.

I’m still trying to picture this new game of Bernard’s. Yes, he’s not that tall, but … ahem … neither are you. How you not land on your butt and remain upright to take pictures is very impressive.

Carson,
I swear it’s almost as if he’s begging to have something on his back. That boy was definitely born to do something… he needs something to do. If he’s in the right mood, he’ll stand there forever and let me “squeeze” (hug) him with my leg.
I know it’s odd… but then, not only are Bernard and I both short… we’re both odd. 😉 In a good way, of course. 😉

And I always think of you when I’m working with him. The day we get a halter on him is going to be a very good day. 🙂

CeeCee,
Glad you do! Umm… let’s see… shall we call the position “Head on Bernard’s back?” 🙂
See, Bernard does love hugs and having things on his back. 😉

Bernard just went to that seminar and saw all those donkeys getting ridden.
He wants to go for a ride.
He says “Big? Shmig. Donkeys in other countries carry more weight than my mom every single day. Come on, Mom! Let’s go for a ride!!!”
🙂
I bet there are dozens of nice little girls in ABQ who would love to come ride round and round the paddock on Bernard…..
🙂
The first time I looked at the video over at 7MSN, it didn’t show the captions. I was watching along and — “Hey! That looks just like Ellsworth! And, wait, I really think that’s Don! Which means, of course, that THAT is Bernard!”
I watched it again to get another look, and that time I saw the captions.
🙂
Next best thing to being there!
🙂

Heck “I” would like to ride round and round on Bernard!! Err… does being 5′ 10” rule out the idea?

Da Boyz are so adorable..thanks for my donkey fix. The kids are thrilled to see their to get to see the donkeys before going to school this morning. Ry said,”It looks like Patrick has lots of somebody elses to play with on the playground. That makes me very happy for him.” Yep, us too Ry.
They all look so cute pretending to be giraffes. You must have taken the wonderful pictures in the afternoon when the clouds were not quite as black and threatening. What a crazy weather day.

Haha, Justina, do you create the new legs bums and tums gym? How can you do this while holding the camera without overturning?
And yes, the boys look like giraffes. Happy donkeys, funny photos!

Too cute. I love the giraffe pictures hehe. Silly donkeys.
What are you doing to tame down Nigel? I’m still trying to tame my donkey Led Zeppelin. I can touch his face and his left neck and side. Still working on his right side. I haven’t tried putting a halter on him yet. If you could do a post just showing what you’re doing that would be really great. 🙂
