I think we need to do a study on donkeys and water drinking/watermelon eating. It’s as if there’s so much water in the watermelon that they can’t process it fast enough… they’re working on eating the watermelon at the same time they’re trying to do the tongue thing they do when they drink water. 🙂
Bernard, Ellsworth and Patrick all enjoy watermelon – no one nearly as much as Patrick though. Fergus and Nigel… not so much. Fergus and Nigel said they’ll gladly share their portion with Wilbur when he arrives. 🙂
Wilbur was much more persnickety when we first got him. He wouldn’t eat banana, for example, even when he saw Sophie and Buzz eat it.
Now he’s much more trusting, and more open to different foods.
He doesn’t like hot chile spices, and doesn’t like vinegar, and when he acts interested in my green tea, and I let him sniff it, he backs up like it smells AWFUL…..
He knows, now, if I tell him “you don’t want this,” that I’m telling him the truth.
Oh, oh, oh!! The girls must try watermelon!! I can tell by the pleased looks on your “Angels'” faces how much they loooove it!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing your delightful boys, and giving me an idea for a treat for my persnickety girls 😉 p.s. I just love those fellas.
Isn’t that the truth Mark Twain?!! DROOL!! I just threw out some old watermelon last night and wondered what critter would find it first! hehe LOVE, LOVE all these pics! I get choked eating watermelon myself, did they?!! HOPE not! LOL
I really can’t begin to describe how happy these pics make me. Ear to ear grin.
Thanks so much for helping Patrick realize just how amazing his new life is. ((sigh))
Oh my gosh, I laugh at these characters everytime I look at them. They are so funny. You are an amazing photographer and I so enjoy your humor. Thank you a bunch for all the giggles and grins! And the LOL s
Fergus and Nigel might enjoy a piece of Watermelon with the rind still attached. All my Horses over the years did … same great taste but more crunchy, less drippy. Don’t worry about them digesting the rind. It’s mostly water too.

What a great bunch of shots!! 🙂 🙂
Love the top one — flared nostrils and closed eyes……. The look of someone who has tasted heaven before and knows what awaits.
The third one, when he tastes heaven again.
And Patrick……….. Love that third-from-the-bottom one! Amazing catch on the drool!
🙂
What lucky boys, getting to eat watermelon. Wilbur says he’ll be right over.

Thank you so much. I was wondering about the rind and was afraid that someone might choke on it. This is good to know! 🙂
