Augustus, a.k.a. Gussie, a.k.a. Gussie Boobala.
Izzy’s still smiling.
Beatrice is never far from Gus.
Their house.
We had to separate Harriet from the rest of the flock for a while because she wasn’t being very nice. She’s behaving much better now.
Sweet Hillary. Based on her size, she’s definitely a girl.
Izzy’s definitely a girl too. She and Hillary are the smallest of the flock.
Izzy loves taking long baths and basking in the afternoon sun.
We love little big baby ducks.

CeeCee,
I actually took our little wild one to the wildlife rehabilitation center as soon as I returned from Maryland. She was just as wild as could be, so I knew she would be better off there.
When I called a week later to check on her, they told me they thought she was most likely a wood duck. They said they had put her in with several other wild ducklings and that she was doing well. 🙂

Oh, that’s good news. She wouldn’t have done well with your ducks. Wood ducks seem to be different critters from the larger ducks.

Oh my, they are growing into very beautiful and handsome young ducks. Their house (palace?) is great. What lucky ducks!

Do they naturally go into their house at night like chickens do? Or do you have a duck round-up?

Denise,
Turns out, our kids are afraid of the dark and are still spending nights in our garage… not in their palace.
We’re working on it… 🙂

The little duckling have grown into beautiful ducks. I love the castle which is fit for royal ducks. I was wondering what had happened to the little duck that found you. I am glad she is doing well at the center.

OMG, they all have grown from little ducklings to beautiful and handsome ducks! What a lovely duck house it is! My guess is that you will build a pond not far from their lovely home in the very near future, right? 😀

Memaw,
We decided not to build a pond for now… the ducks are prolific poopers! 🙂 Maybe someday…
