Oh, if I only knew then what I know now… as silly as it sounds, at the time, it didn’t occur to me that we actually had a “baby” in our midst.
My mom came across this photo that she took of Bernard and Ellsworth. She took it a little over two years ago. I’m shocked at Bernard’s size… he had just turned a year old. What a baby!
And speaking of babies, here’s a recent photo I took of the baby down the road. I think it’s a little jack, and he’s now about a month and a half old.

It’s probably just as well you didn’t realize at the time how little Bernard was. You might have gotten into the habit of carrying him around like a purse donkey.

I know it’s little comfort, but I’m glad to see a blanket on him and a fly mask on his momma. Seems like a strange combination of mistreatment (roping) and care (the blanket and mask). Bizarre.
Bernard is in a grown up body, but he’s still the baby. 🙂

All baby animals are so adorable! I’ve often thought of trying to find a young minii-donkey but not sure how it would do with my sheep!

Oh my how Bernard has grown!. It’s interesting that they put a blanket on the baby. Not so heartless?

Oh, Bernard, what a cutie. I wonder if the new baby is related to Patrick in any way – they have the same Qtip forehead…

Wow. I don’t remember Bernard being so little. Are you sure your mom isn’t a secret photoshopper?

Our babies grow up way too fast! Bernard might be bigger-but he’ll always be your baby. 🙂 At least it looks like they are trying to be kind to the baby. I’m still hoping he’ll make a run for it down to your place when he’s ready to leave his mama!

Oh, Justina…look at what a little guy he was…I had forgotten, too. He’s just so tiny! And what a confident, wonderful, happy, funny young adult he has become! All thanks to you and Don. ((hug))

Sweet sweet Baby Bernard…..
I have the same thoughts when I sort through babyphotos from my children. I can´t believe.
Your neighbor baby-donkey is also a cutie. Good that they wrapped him in a blanket.
