Oh, how our little roan has grown.
Summer is coming and he has a task,
He needs to be fitted for his first fly mask.
It fit him perfectly,
He’s so proud,
Now he can say he’s one of the crowd.

Buck has that way of holding his head up and glowing with pride after a big step, doesn’t he?

Lovely poem and handsome boy! He’ll be glad he’s one of the crowd when the flies start buzzing.

CeeCee,
Now if we can only get Nigel to join the crowd too… the flies are so cruel to his poor eyes. We’re working with him, but he still freaks when anything goes near his face. 😦

I noticed Nigel’s naked face…makes you wonder what happened to him before MBF that made him so scared. Poor guy, if only you could speak Donkey and explain it to him.

So, you manage to keep masks on the Boyz, even with Bernard’s involvement? That last photo makes me wonder… 🙂

Flartus,
That was definitely our main concern last night! 🙂 Once he completed his inspection of Buck’s new fly mask, Bernard was a good boy. Can you believe it?

Yes, he has… and so proud of it. 🙂 Now we need to convince Nigel to do the same…

What a rite of passage…to get one’s own big boy fly mask! Would Nigel wear one of those little fly string thingy’s that Carson sometimes puts on her herd? They just go across the forehead and then latch under their throat.

C,
That’s a great idea. Maybe between that and some Paco treats, we can convince him it’s okay. Thanks! 🙂

How do they see through the fly mask? What does it look like for them?
