We’re so proud of you, Nigel!
Nigel wore a fly mask for the first time (ever) on Tuesday evening and took it all in stride. He must have felt instantly better with the flies away from his eyes, and it was funny seeing him act like a goofball:
On Wednesday, Don went out and bought Nigel his very own blue fly mask. (Blue is Nigel’s color; he inherited it from Fergus.)
Nigel wore his new fly mask for the first time yesterday morning:
He was so unaffected by it, he couldn’t be bothered to pose for pictures during breakfast.
We are so proud of you, Nigel! You’re moving forward by leaps and bounds now, sweet boy! ♥ ♥ ♥

And you didn’t have to tell him, “there are donkeys suffering from flies all over the world who would love your fly mask,” to make him appreciate it?!

It would be an excellent thing if those masks came in tie die. All the donkeys would be clamoring for one.

I love all those pictures, with the lop-sided ears, but especially the one of him muzzle-deep in that sweet hay. Life is good for Nigey. 🙂

With my horse, it was the sound of the velcro ripping that bothered her at first. I had to spend some time opening and closing it while it was off her head while giving tasty treats

Here is the complaint I just filed and the web address so you can file one yourself.
This is the Texas Dept. of Licensing and Regulation
http://www.license.state.tx.us/AUC/auction.htm
Please submit additional documentation in support of your complaint to the Department by fax (512) 539-5698
Mr. Jason Owen attempted to violate Texas Penal Code Section 42.09(a)(1)(2)(3)(4) wherein he scheduled a “donkey roping” event in the city of Van Horn. This was in conjunction with several other roping events for public entertainment. Mr. Owen cancelled the event, only because thousands of people from all over the United States sent emails to the city of Van Horn, which was one of the sponsors, that roping a donkey was cruelty to the animal. A donkeys physiology is significantly different from a cow or calf, as to create pain and suffering when roped around the neck and hind quarters.
Considering Mr. Owen, on television station KEWS in Odessa, admitted paying for these donkeys, and will not sit still and lose his expected profits from this event, may attempt to put in this event sometime in the future, unless the commission puts a stop to it.

Jason Owens’ auctioneers license number is 05172011
so you can file a complaint yourselves with the Texas Dept. of License and Regulation. I don’t know his actual address, but his mailing address is
P.O. Box 1427, so you can write and convince him to not put on the donkey
roping event anywhere else……………because we are watching him.
