I suppose it’s finally time to spill the beans. In just a few short weeks, Don and I, the dogs, the donkeys and Meggie Moo are moving to Virginia.
It certainly wasn’t an easy decision. New Mexico is the Land of Enchantment! There is so much we will miss about this ruggedly beautiful state and the original Morning Bray Farm. We’ll have a heckuva lot of people to miss, too.
We’re moving east to be closer to our parents, other family and old friends. We’ve chosen the Charlottesville area as where we’d like to establish the next Morning Bray Farm.
In the interim while we get the lay of the land, we’ve found the perfect farm to rent in Lexington, Virginia.
The dogs will have a picket-fenced yard and the donkeys will have almost eight acres of gently rolling pasture with a brand new barn. As she does here, Meggie Moo will run the place.
We’re both excited and terrified, and we’re looking forward to our next adventure in the Old Dominion State.

Wow! What a change for all of you!
Virginia’s so beautiful . . . funny, the other day I was thinking about one time when you commented on AG that you’d forgotten how green things could be in the east . . . and nice, mellow weather most of the time. Good choice.
Your RentARanch looks great, but I bet you end up living at a Tara-like place. 😉

I have moved farm three times, never with animals. I salute you. It will take some time to adjust to the East and the humidity, but at least you are not strangers to it. Good luck!

You will be missed by your friends, neighbors, and fellow donkey lovers in New Mexico. Although I’ve never met you in person, I’ve always loved your blog and the donkey stories (and miracles!). I hope that you will share the story of the move with us–I can’t think how complicated it will be with all the animals. And I hope we get to read about the new Morning Bray Farm.

Wow! That is big news! Hubby and I have bounced that idea back and forth for years. He never wants to leave AZ…I’m the one who gets homesick for the rolling hills and green grass of PA. So we compromise. I get to head east for twice yearly visits. I do miss living near family.
Our son lives in Virginia. It is a beautiful state…especially the Charlottesville area. I think your donks are going to love it there…I see grazing muzzles in their future. 🙂 Good luck with your move and please continue updating us on your new adventures!
Many blessings, Rosanne

What an adventure! Best of luck with the move and settling into to your new surroundings. It reminds me of when Rolling Dog Farm moved from Montana to New Hampshire. Reading their blog about the move was fascinating. Looking forward to reading about your move.

Exciting news! I do understand about moving closer to aging parents- it’s one of the reasons why we moved here to the Kootenays, and I’m eternally grateful that I got to spend some time with my mom before she passed. Virginia looks like a lovely place, and it will be lovelier with the MB herd gracing it’s pastures. Safe travels!

Wow! I can understand the move but will miss the burro/donkey playdates that you and Linda would post photos of. Have a wonderful/safe/fun time on the trip to Virginia.
Please give Ellsworth (my very favorite in the entire world-don’t tell the rest of the herd or George or Alan) an extra good cuddle from me. This city girl with a standard poodle really has enjoyed reading about your Farm. Looking forward to Morning Bray Part Two!

I don’t visit here often, but I love it when I am here. It’s exciting to hear that you are moving close by, but I’m sure the decision comes with plenty of doubts. Being near family, to be available when needed, trumps the ‘wild and wonderful’ … though we all know you will miss your home in NM. I was just in Charlottesville the other day (it’s about an hour and a half from my house). I’m heading back to my blog now, to add you to my side bar list so I can keep up with you on a more regular basis.

You are such an adventurous soul – very inspiring, too! I don’t always reply but peek at posts often to try staying up on top of things going on with others. I’m very happy and excited for you, Don, your K-9s, Donkeys and Moo, too, on your move. I pray all goes well and smooth as silk (if that’s possible with ANY move, much less with one as big as yours is :-)!
