According to the boys, pampas grass is delish. With the new fence giving them access, the boys were able to chew our once beautiful plants down to a nub.
Yesterday, I asked Don if he would put up some wire to give the grass a chance to recover. In the interest of helping Don turn a mundane task into something challenging and fun, the boys decided to help.
Here’s Ellsworth providing suggestions for how to begin the job.
And checking in on Don’s progress a few minutes later.
Bernard really wasn’t into how Don got the job done. He was more interested in tools and materials, and most specifically, what each tasted like.

Now the pictures and story are too cute, although I doubt Don would go along with that! Probably took him twice a long to get the job done with his helpers.

As hard as it is to trim back old pampas grass, I think you could hire out Bernard and Ellsworth as a lawn maintenance crew.

If you’re gonna do that, you’d better hug Bernard too. We wouldn’t want to leave him out!

Well, of course! 😉 We’d never forget Bernard… not that he’d ever let us anyway. 🙂 We love both of those boys so very much.

Such good little helpers they are! And I am with Bernard…a good taste test before beginning any job is a must!
I love watching these boys and their antics!

Just like with little human helpers—takes twice as long. 🙂
I would SO hire them to trim my pampas! It is a gargantuan task every year without them.

Well, I guess I need to turn my two loose on the dried pampas – it’s a lengthy task for me to trim it every year. However, I doubt the dried version would taste half as good as the fresh! Adorable pictures, as always! -Tammy

Looks like Ellsworth is doing his best to distract him away from his tasty grass patch. Bernard is a typical boy…interested in all the tools. Looks like they make the job a lot more enjoyable, for all their “help”.

They look so innocent.
And all the while, they’re just watching what’s being done and the strength of the various materials, so they can figure out how to undo it.
