      C,

I was sitting out there with them yesterday, and Leland decided it was a good time to take a nap. Too cute. 🙂

      June,

You’ll be able to count goats, then. 😉 Have a great day!

Leland looks like he laid in black paint. 🙂
What breed of goat is he?
Sweet dreams to your sweet boy.

      CeeCee,

He does, doesn’t he? To the best of our knowledge, all three of our goats are pygmy goats. I’m not sure of anything more specific than that about their breeds.

awww….How many goats do you have? Do you use them for milk/cheese or are they just pets?

      Nancy,

We have three goats: Leland, Abigail and Meggie. They’re pets. 🙂

Thank you, Cindy! We think he’s handsome too. He and Abigail are incredibly mischievous, so it was a treat to catch him in such a quiet moment.

How much to pygmy goats weigh? I’m trying to get an idea of size…

Very relaxing photo. Leland has interesting horn structure.

      Cathy,

      This is from Wikipedia:

Females, called does or nannies, weigh 23 to 34 kg (51 to 75 lb) and males, called bucks or billies, weigh 27 to 39 kg (60 to 86 lb).

Since Leland and Abigail are still young, we expect that they still have some growing to do and weight to gain. My guess is that Leland is currently sitting at about 45-50 pounds.

They look so innocent when they sleep. Sometimes life’s just too much and a goat has to flop down and shut the eyes for just a minute before resuming the normal schedule of events (mischief).

      Ken and Mary,

Yup, that’s pretty much the only time they look that innocent, isn’t it? 🙂

      woofwhinnywhisper,

We love his name too… funny, you made me just realize this… Leland is the only critter we have at Morning Bray who wasn’t re-named or named by us.

It’s a long story… in a roundabout way they are, but not in the true sense of rescue. Leland and Abigail came to Morning Bray to rescue Meggie after her brother Herbie died. Poor Meggie cried and cried for two days until we were able to find and bring Leland and Abigail home for her to boss over.
