We visited the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park with my dad over the weekend. The park is about eight miles from us, and like Morning Bray Farm, is located in what we call the bosque, otherwise known as our cottonwood forest. The park has 270 acres of woods, meadows and farmland.
Would you look at that? Lenny was there. He blends so brilliantly into the landscape.
Evidence of beavers.
And turtles, which made us Marylanders feel right at home. Go Terps!
I loved watching the geese. They’re so full of personality.

It looks like a beautiful place and who’d a thought that Lenny would show up there too! I love the picture of the turtles on the log. Guess they’re just chillin’!

Pat,
It’s a gorgeous and tranquil place. I thought it was so cool that Lenny blended so well (by design, I’m sure) into his environment. Don took the picture of the turtles on the log. 🙂

Leah,
Likewise… love the waddle. The way they move their feet, I think it looks like they’re wearing clown shoes. 😀

Carson,
Apparently, 10,000 years ago, we had 700 pound beavers in New Mexico!

Looks like a nice place.
I came face to face with a squirrel on a low wall the other day – it was a complete surprise to both of us. Without even thinking, I said ‘Hey, Lenny!’ and kept walking.
It is catching. 🙂

Ok Justina, you’ve got a thing about feet, right? First Bernard’s and now the goose….Did you see where you & Carson have started something with the brand tatoo’s? I was over at Little Farm w/a Big Heart and her daughter is now going to get one! Very cool!

Nancy,
I think it’s more of a thing about “parts” and not necessarily limited to feet. 😀 Totally cool about Little Farm w/a Big Heart, huh?!

Those turtles look like they are waiting for the lifeguard to blow his whistle, don’t they?
Geese made me nervous. Isn’t that funny? They are sooo tough! I think of them as the mafia of the bird world.

Winter,
They do look ready to jump at any moment. I love how their little legs are splayed out all over the place.
Ha! You’re right about geese… they are so tough. Our neighbor’s domestic geese are no exception… they’re amazing to watch as well 🙂
And, yes, funny that they make you nervous, but definitely understandable!
