Ellsworth has the patience of a saint.
We know there’s no question that he loves Bernard, nor is there any question that Bernard loves Ellsworth.
But, lord have mercy, we can’t figure how Ellsworth puts up with Bernard’s relentless antics.
Take the fly mask situation, for example. Oy.
Re-lent-less, I tell ya.
At the end of the day though, we knowΒ Ellsworth wouldn’t want it any other way. β₯

I know, and you know, that Ellsworth is so happy to have loving companions that he’d put up with just about anything from them.
But, yeah, it does look as if Bernard is re-lent-less.

Maybe Ellsworth really doesn’t want to be wearing the fly mask and Bernard is just helping out? Or not. π

I can just hear Ellsworth now… “Psst… Bernard, get over here and get this thing offa me.” π

When my first corgi, Molly, was a puppy, she was full of energy. She was the smartest dog I’ve ever known, and needed a lot of entertaining.
When I was eating, I would tie a nice soft half-inch diameter rope (four or five feet long) in knots around the leg of my chair.
She would enjoy tugging until she had it untied, at which point I’d tie it again and she would start over.
I wonder if Bernard would like something like that? If there is a length of rope that would be safe to play with? Tied in knots to the fence, or something?
Wonder if he had something else to pick apart if he would leave the fly masks alone? Maybe? Sometimes? π π

Vicki,
I think that’s a brilliant idea. The key word you used is “safe” though. Bernard destroyed their second Jolly Ball the day after we got it and shortly thereafter destroyed their traffic cone. We just need to find something that he can’t break, rip or tear. Kryptonite? π

Even with the arrow, it took me a while to figure out what I was seeing. What a great shot.
Thanks for the morning giggle.

Mel,
Well, not really. The booger (a.k.a. Bernard) still manages to rip the flymasks off of Ellsworth and Fergus (he’s reeeely persistent). We just keep putting them back on because we know they help. Fergus actually walks to us to have us put his on now! Hope your herd is doing well. π

That Bernard sure is a character! Ellsworth probably loves the attention cause it means he’s being loved on. LOL

Bernard must like to see eyes to eyes for some reason. With the masks, he must dislike not being able to read something (donkey eye language.)

Maybe Bernard needs a hobby. Like macrame.
Of course you might end up with three hog tied donkeys, but it would make for a great blog post.
