In America, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their service, to acknowledge their contributions to our national security, and to underscore that all those who served – not only those who died – have sacrificed and done their duty.
Don is a veteran and I’m proud of him. In his 20 years of active duty service, he served three tours in Kuwait, one in Kosovo, one in Afghanistan, and two tours in Iraq.
Here’s Staff Sergeant Don in Kosovo, 1999.
And here’s Master Sergeant Don in Iraq, 2006.
Welcome home. ♥

Take that man to a parade and dinner. I’m glad he made it home safely, and tell him thank you for his service.

I love with and love a Viet Nam vet. Please give your vet a hug from our home. It takes a lot of moxie to serve in times of war.

Look at that baby face in 1999! Love it!
Don, I take so much pride in being able to say I’m your sister. You are such an amazing person – I’ve learned so much from your dedication to this land we call home. Have a terrific day and know you are loved.

Twenty years and all those tours…I had no idea. Bake that man a loaf of bread, and give him a hug for me, too.

Here in Canada we call it Remembrance Day, but the purpose and sentiment are exactly the same.
THANK YOU one and all who serve now, have ever served, or who will serve in the future. Without your gift of courage neither of our nations would be what it is today.
We will not forget !

Don, thanks for serving (and I guess that explains a little of the dinner conversation the other night).
Happy veterans day!
