I think the second one is my fave. I love the lighting…………. The way the light is on the front of the neck, and, best of all, the way it catches the eye…..
Wow – these guys migrate over my house. Love to watch them and listen to them. Nice to see such great photos of them up close. First time by – I will return.
I have never seen these birds in the flesh, but they sure are pretty! I love the light in the eye!
Wrong time of day for me to be looking at pics on the computer. The sun is right in my eyes…much like your crane.
You caused me to look up what they eat: Eats grains, berries, small mammals, insects, snails, reptiles, and amphibians. Uses bill to probe for subsurface food and glean seeds and other foods; forages on land or in shallow marshes.
We’re situated just next to the Rio Grande River, so they’ve got the best of all worlds here. 🙂

Beautiful, just beautiful, and yes, I miss them, too. There’s nothing like that wild call of theirs, it lifts the heart.

You got the shot!
I can´t see them find fish or frogs. Do they live there or just step by?

Awesome shots! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Sandhill Crane before. Nice photos and I like that really cool red marking over the eyes.
