Aw, look at the laughably precious wide mouths! I wonder if mom and dad look for the bright line to know where to insert food.

      June,

I wonder the exact same thing. I’ve noticed that many baby birds share that same bright line on the mouth.

      Bev,

Aren’t they?! As I was photographing them yesterday, I thought they sometimes looked like little old men. πŸ™‚

      C,

They’re so cute and so noisy when mom and dad come around.

We’re actually getting quite a few swallow nests now.. and we’ve actually noticed other types of birds using old nests, so pretty cool! πŸ™‚

Is that some Barnyard hair I spy in that nest? πŸ˜‰ They sure do look ready to launch!

      Flartus,

I’m sure it is. πŸ™‚ One of the five babies flew for the first time yesterday, which is why there were only four babies in the nest at the time the pictures were taken. πŸ™‚

      Nancy,

We really enjoy having them here… a bonus is they eat lots of bugs. πŸ™‚

That last shot is absolutely a keeper! Their mouth’s are killing me with cuteness! You certainly have quite a lot of entertainment going on around there. I’m not sure I would ever want to leave for any reason. Well, maybe to get a beer somewhere πŸ˜€

Won’t be long now and they’ll be gone. Barn swallows nested on our porch when I was growing up. I was always sad when the kids left the nest. It just seemed too quiet and lonely after they left. 😦

The white beaks look like mustaches, too funny! Lots of swallows is a good thing! Good bug eaters.

They are so beautiful. Love their intent look at you. I was looking at the intricate construction of that nest. It’s plastered against a wall, looks completely symmetrical. And it lasts year after year. It’s amazing. They’re not only beautiful, but so beneficial and helpful. Blessings to the Cecil’s everywhere!

I love swallows. I have a few photos that look just like these, I took in the barn when I was working there. They look so precocious.

I’m glad someone got to have babies. A nest of eggs never hatched and the other nest hatched but mom abandoned the babies. It was very sad. I love their little faces and the sweet noise of babies!
