Up until Monday, we were referring to Izzy and her brood as “Izzy and the kids.” On Monday evening, after making what was for us a very difficult decision, Don took Izzy’s two boys (drakes) to a new home. I never figured it would be so hard and that I’d feel so bad seeing them leave Morning Bray Farm.
Izzy wasn’t happy about seeing the boys go either, but she still has her girls.
They’ll be nine weeks old on Sunday and they’re still growing like weeds.

I’m sorry to hear it, but too many drakes can never be a good thing. I’m sure you picked a wonderful home. 🙂
The girls are just stunning beauties. Vivian’s blue are against her cream colored feathers are gorgeous. Thanks for the baby update! ❤

Honey, I’m not sure if you know your grandmother’s middle name and I’m glad that you picked the name, Hazel for one of those girls.

They grow like weeds and I see no more baby feathers on them so they have grown beautifully!

It is sad when any part of a group needs to be relocated because too many “studs” is not a good thing. Too bad that ducks, etc can’t be neutered the same as mammals. You’ll just have to make sure that Izzy does not hatch a clutch of
eggs so that you don’t have to part with anymore for a while. Now you will have to keep an eye on the “girls.” I am afraid that you have a job on your hands.

Question: Don’t all muscovys get the ‘warty’ skin around their eyes/heads? None of your baby girls have it. Maybe it happens as they age??

CeeCee,
Yup, they all get caruncles. And yes, it happens as they age. 🙂
