Oh dear! Not good news…especially during the holidays.
I have a mare that is insulin resistant and I have to watch her diet like a hawk. She now wears a grazing muzzle during the day to limit her grass hay intake. Poor Belle…she’s always bellied up to the feeder and still looks like a chunky monkey.
Good luck with your tummy line Ellsworth. Perhaps more rides will help?

C,
I think that’s exactly what will help… more exercise.

Oh, poor Ellsworth. I can really relate. My doctor tells me this all the time.
It is important, though. Good luck.

I know just how you feel Ellsworth…my doctor tells me every time I see him. You’re in good company…Russell is on a diet too. (but it doesn’t seem to be working) 😦

I can only imagine the difficulty of putting a donkey on a diet. Now you must try to separate him from the rest at feeding time or what?
I like that quote a lot. (Mead’s) No better words were written.

That would be optimal, but very stressful for all of us for him to be separated from his herd. (It is HIS herd. 🙂 )
I think his ticket is for more exercise… we’ll have to come up with a plan for him.

Poor Ellsworth. Trail rides or more walking. I know another donkey although mini that is on a diet. He needs more exercise too but his mom never gets home early enough to work with him.
