It was one year ago today that Ellsworth came into our lives.

We’ve had an incredible year with him and are looking forward to many, many more. To celebrate his fourth birthday, he’ll be getting Paco treats and lots of extra hugs and scritches. And he’ll be showing us where to scritch.

You see, Ellsworth has learned that he can show us where he wants to be scritched.

Mamma, scritch right here, please.

A little to the right, please, Mamma.

That’s perfect…

…but I’m just going to move your hand over a tad to exactly where I’d like it.

Umm… Mamma? You’re not stopping now, are you?

Pretty amazing, hmm? Watching Ellsworth blossom over the last year has been incredibly rewarding. We think the sky’s the limit for Big Red. ♥ ♥ ♥

Okay, Bernard, it’s like this… I point here and you scritch…

Happy Birthday ‘Worth! We love you so! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

What a goober…

Work is taking me away for a couple of days to what is meant to be one of the most beautiful places in New Mexico… Georgia O’Keeffe country. I hope I’ll be able to bring back even an ounce of its beauty to share with you upon my return. ♥

I’ve told Ellsworth all week that one of his biggest fans is coming to visit. He can barely wait to meet her.

For those of you who follow Carson’s blog, you know that Carolynn from A Glowing Ember is visiting The 7MSN Ranch this weekend.

We’re so excited that today, they’re coming up to visit Morning Bray Farm. Carolynn, Ellsworth is sooooooo looking forward to hugs and scritches from you. ♥

This week we get to meet Keebler, Mel in N.Y.’s jack.

Here’s Keebler begging for snacks. Hi, Mel!

In this picture, Keebler is showing off for the girls.

We’ve now officially met all of Mel’s donkeys. He has quite the beautiful herd, doesn’t he?

Not a one of us has had a second of regret for adopting Fergus and Nigel in April.

In fact, Don and I have had repeated conversations about how thankful we are that one became two.

And, while some things never change… like Bernard chewing or sucking on everything he can get into his mouth…

…Don couldn’t help but notice a change in Ellsworth after Fergus and Nigel’s arrival. Understandably, Ellsworth was often quite focused on his place in the hierarchy and not on us. Therefore, Don felt he had lost his buddy.

Until yesterday.

Don got his buddy back.

Hallelujah and amen.

Everything just takes a little time to work itself out.

Did I say Hallelujah? Let me say it again.

Last night, as I was going through random pictures taken over the weekend, I came across a couple of shots that made me crack up. I’m sure you can guess who’s that donkey.

This picture is very a la Loch Ness Monster. (This picture reeeely makes me crack up.)

Did you figure it out? Just in case you haven’t, here’s a hint for ya.

Bernard regards the poop scoopin’ rake with awe.

When Bernard is around, Don calls scoopin’ poop donkey lacrosse.

And, as usual, Bernard thinks that’s hysterically funny. Probably because he’s a goober.

For the first few days they were here, Fergus and Nigel were terrified of the water tubs we have in the corral and pasture. Naturally, we were concerned about them taking in enough water. Fergus was much more bold about drinking from the tubs and from what I could tell, Nigel was only drinking when Fergus was drinking, which also worried me. Yesterday, I saw Nigel drinking with Bernard, which brought joy to my heart.

Of course, I was excited to get more pink donkey tongue pictures.

Don and I enjoy taking our camp chairs out into the corral or pasture as often as we can to sit and be with the boys. When I did just that yesterday afternoon, Bernard decided to lay down for a nap next to me.

I decided to join him.
