Having my mom; aka Memaw, here for a visit is always a blessing because she helps us with so many things. On Saturday, she helped me give the girls and Whisky a bath.

Kassie’s favorite part of getting a bath is being dried off.

She loves being rubbed dry.

Giving Whisky a bath is a dream. He loves water, so he walks right into the tub when he’s asked… and stands quietly and calmly while he’s being washed.

Enzi and Suni share the same philosophy about baths. They do everything they can to convince themselves that, “This isn’t happening to me,” while they’re being bathed, but they love the end results.

Both Enzi and Suni always have an extra spring in their step after a nice bath.

And Kike. Sweet girl just loves to be loved, no matter where she is.

Even in the bathtub. ♥

The Baby can look like such a thug sometimes. Can you believe that she and Enzi are best friends?

Baby Kassie went to the vet to get her teeth cleaned on Wednesday. She came home Wednesday afternoon with a purple bandage on her leg and two fewer teeth.

From both the effects of the anesthesia and her pain medication, she was very groggy.

The important thing was that she was comfortable and feeling no pain.

When her eyes started to close and she started leaning over, I knew she was alright.

Sweet dreams, Baby.

With tons of cuddles and lots of coddling over the last couple of days, she’s doing great. Thanks to C and Wilbur in WI, Kassie even had ice cream for dessert after breakfast this morning.

There were no warning barks this time, which leads us to believe she was stalking the skunk at 6 am yesterday morning.

Don and I were in the kitchen getting ready for our day when Kassie came in shaking her head and gagging. The stink hit us like a brick wall.

The Baby was quickly escorted into the garage for her de-skunking bath.

Lord have mercy, there’s never a dull moment around here.

She’s an old pro at this now. This is the second time for her this year, which you could argue is a blessing…

…she was sprayed four times last year, after all.

We’ve given up thinking that she’ll listen to us when we tell her those black kitties are bad, bad, bad.

She knows they are, but she just can’t help herself.

‘Cause she’s my Baby, my Kassie, my little Baby Kassie.

Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.  ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

By the way, if you need the recipe for a skunk solution that really works, you’ll find it on this post.

Just the other day, we were comparing notes with Carson about how our respective dogs react when they hear coyotes. Normally, our dogs completely ignore them.

You’ll see that was not the case with Kassie on Friday evening as the sun was setting and a pack of nearby coyotes started howling, yipping, yelping and barking.

We measure Kassie’s alert status by how close the tip of her tail is to touching her back. ♥

There are a few things that set Kassie off. Each time the air conditioner shuts off is one of them. If you listen, you might hear a high-pitched whine coming from the unit… we’re sure that’s what she’s barking at. Why this sets Kassie off and not our other dogs, we don’t know.

We do know that Kassie doesn’t like new or unknown things. No kidding… she once barked incessantly at a very large mushroom she discovered in our backyard in Maryland.

Do your dogs – or cats – have strange things that rile them up?

Every now and then we find Kassandra Dee studying a toad with quiet intensity.

Thankfully she knows better than to mess with them, because biting one will make her very sick.

If only she would learn the same lesson with skunks. Thanks to Carson for these next two shots. Just look at the ‘tude – from both the princess and the toad!
