I’m sure you know by now that we watch the daily lineup with great interest and much fascination.

Now that Gracie  Snow White has started joining the lineup, she’s changing things up a bit.

Gracie: Yes, dahlings. It’s a girl’s prerogative to rearrange boys.

Gracie: All grey donkeys to the south, facing south, please.

Gracie: All non-grey donkeys to the north, facing north. Thank you, Boyz.

Patrick: Honest, mama, we’re just doing what she told us to.

While doing yard work yesterday afternoon, Don came across a nest of baby mice in a warm and toasty dirt pile covered by a tarp on our driveway.

Don put the babies in a bucket so I could see them when I got home.

Of course I had to name them immediately. Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe… and Juan.

The vegetable garden that we dreamt of in January came to life this summer. With excitement, we harvested some of our carrots yesterday.

Oh, look. Here’s one of Lenny‘s 287 sunflower seed stashes; found all over Morning Bray Farm. Thank you, Lenny.

Aren’t the cosmic purple carrots gorgeous?

Poor Patrick and Nigel. I just set the basket down for a moment. I didn’t mean to torture you.

From left to right: Cosmic purple, White Belgian (Blanche A Collet Vert), and Berlicum 2.

Samples, anyone? (Don’t miss Ellsworth’s and Nigel’s cute mouths; they’re drooling with anticipation.)

Patrick: Dad, I don’t care which flavor. Honest.

Patrick: Mmm. Good. Carrots are your pal.

Bernard: Ellsworth, do you need help with that? Here, let me help you. That’s what best friends are for…

Don and I went to visit a new friend at the Kiva Donkey Rescue in Bernardo yesterday.

Our handsome friend’s name is Denali. He measures almost 17 hands, yet he’s a gentle, gentle soul. To put Denali’s size into perspective, Don is 6′ 2″ tall.

Denali’s size was a bit intimidating, but he let me pick up his feet.. and he put his head on my shoulder while I rubbed his ears. He loved having his ears rubbed.

Denali and his friends thoroughly enjoyed the apples and carrots we brought for them.

Denali hasn’t been feeling very well lately, so please send lots of positive, loving thoughts his way.

He deserves them.

After three days of rain, we had a beautiful day yesterday.

Everyone seemed relieved to feel the warmth of the sun again.

Did you know that ducks thrive on tranquility?

I tend to think that we all do. Just look at Emmy thriving here in her new home:

The Boyz and Gracie Belle enjoyed yesterday’s sunshine too.

I love these Boyz.

And they love each other too:

Our farrier came yesterday morning. Bernard, Ellsworth and Patrick all did extremely well.

Dear Nigel. Will you let Shorty work on your feet in eight weeks?

Hello, Paddy, Pat, Pat.

You are a testament to what love can do.

And Gracie Belle. She’s filling out quite nicely, don’t you think?

Isn’t she beautiful?

Yesterday was the first time in a very long while that I saw the Boyz in their daily lineup. I’m pretty sure it was the first time since Fergus died.

I quickly snapped a picture and rushed into the house to download the image from my camera. It had been so long, I couldn’t remember in what order and which direction everyone usually stood.

Here’s the original lineup. I took this picture in October, 2010:

Here’s a picture of the Boyz from April this year:

And here’s the lineup I saw yesterday:
