Farm

It was one year ago today that Bernard and Ellsworth made their world blogging debut.

Since then, we’re thankful that our herd has grown to include Fergus and Nigel.

We’re so thankful every day for each of our four-legged children.  All 14 of them! We’re also incredibly thankful for the many wonderful new friends we’ve made this year because of this blog.

To celebrate one year and 311 posts, we’re having a contest. One lucky, randomly chosen winner will receive a Morning Bray Farm 100% cotton Hanes tagless t-shirt.

To enter our first anniversary contest, simply leave a comment on this post. The contest will close Wednesday at 7 p.m. (Mountain time) and we’ll announce the winner on Thursday. ♥

For the first time in our lives last week, Don and I saw a natural phenomenon called a Sun pillar.

To me, the Sun shone like a giant spotlight into the sky.

In reality, Sun pillars are vertical streaks of light that appear above and below a low Sun as it shines through clouds that contain ice crystals. The pillars are caused by sunlight reflecting off the surface of falling ice crystals.

Breathtaking.

We can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited in the darkness.

I blinked, and just like that, the seasons changed.

Just outside of  Amarillo’s city limits is a roadside attraction called Cadillac Ranch.

As a tribute to Cadillac in 1974, a collective of artists called Ant Farm decided to put 10 Cadillacs in a wheat field. (In 1997, the Ranch was moved two miles west from its original site.)

It’s a monument to the American dream on Route 66, pointed west.  The cars are buried in chronological order, from a 1949 Club Coupe to a 1963 Sedan de Ville.

Visitors are encouraged to bring cans of spray paint because the purpose of the monument is to let the audience take part.

Naturally, the boyz and the rest of Morning Bray Farm were there with us in spirit. Instead of spray painting something on one of the cars, we opted for something a little different.

We left a Morning Bray Farm bumper sticker instead. ♥

A cold front came through yesterday morning and brought rain showers along with it. When I heard the rain hitting the roof and saw the sun shining, I was hoping there would be a rainbow. I wasn’t disappointed.

The fall color of the cottonwoods created a perfect pot of gold.

But you know, I should have known better than to think I was going to capture a beautiful photo of the boys with the rainbow as a backdrop. Barnyard accosted me as soon as I set foot into the corral.

Instead, we headed into the barn, dried off the camera, and enjoyed the rainbow together. ♥
